BitComet ist P2P-Client für das Filesharingnetz BitTorrent. Neben einigen kleineren Bugfixes und Verbesserungen an der grafischen Oberfläche wurden in BitComet 0.77 einige Anpassungen im Core vorgenommen, die eine hohe Prozessorlast vermeiden sollen. Daneben ist ein Bug, der für unvollständige Downloads verantwortlich war, in der neuen BitComet Version entfernt worden. Für den IE gibt es jetzt einen Eintrag im Kontextmenü, mit dem sich Videos mit einem Klick herunterladen lassen.

Bisher sind für Bittorrent 5 vom Entwickler Bram Cohen leider noch keine Changelogs zur Verfügung gestellt worden. Wir reichen die Informationen aber umgehend nach.

Ludvig Strigeus, Entwickler des ressourcenschonenden Bittorrent-Clients uTorrent hat gestern die Version 1.6.1 (Beta Build 478) von utorrent veröffentlicht. Diese ist Teil der ersten offiziellen Beta der utorrent WebUI v0.300 Beta 1, die es erlaubt über eine gesicherte Webseite die Steuerung des utorrent-PC’s übers LAN bzw. Internet vorzunehmen.

uTorrent und WebUI können weiterhin getrennt voneinander verwendet werden. Die deutsche Sprachdatei für utorrent 1.6.1 Beta Build 478 und WebUI v.0.300 gibt es hier im Forum.

Wer kennt es nicht: der Download schleicht nur so vor sich hin oder der Provider blockt P2P Traffic komplett. Der neueste Bittorrent Client 4.20.4 unterstützt nun Internet Caches (Cache Discovery Protocol) und entlastet so die Bandbreite der Provider. Auf der BitTorrent-Homepage stehen die Windows- und Linuxsoftware des neuen Filesharing Clients zum Download bereit.

Die Clou der Cache-Server-Unterstützung liegt darin, dass Internet-Provider die am häufigsten ausgetauschten Dateien in ihren Caches (ähnlich eines Proxy-Server) vorhalten und so ihre Bandbreite schonen. Das meiste Datenaufkommen wird somit auf das interne Netz des Providers beschränkt. Die BitTorrent-Entwickler hoffen, dass die Provider BitTorrent-Traffic künftig cachen, statt die Bandbreite zu drosseln oder BitTorrent-Transfers gänzlich zu blockieren.

Bittorrent Inc. hat Version 4.2 der Bittorrent-Tauschsoftware veröffentlicht. Neu in dieser Version ist DHT (eine trackerless-Funktion), die es Bittorrent ermöglicht (fast) komplett ohne Tracker auszukommen. Zum Verteilen einer Datei ist es nun nicht mehr nötig, eine Torrent-Datei zu erstellen und diese auf einem Tracker zu veröffentlichen.

Mit der neuen Trackerless Technologie von Bittorrent wird es möglich, eine Datei auf einem beliebigen Server zum Download anzubieten und die P2P-Software sucht sich automatisch im Bittorrent-Netzwerk weitere Downloadquellen.
