Ludvig Strigeus, Entwickler des ressourcenschonenden Bittorrent-Clients uTorrent hat gestern die Version 1.6.1 (Beta Build 478) von utorrent veröffentlicht. Diese ist Teil der ersten offiziellen Beta der utorrent WebUI v0.300 Beta 1, die es erlaubt über eine gesicherte Webseite die Steuerung des utorrent-PC’s übers LAN bzw. Internet vorzunehmen.

uTorrent und WebUI können weiterhin getrennt voneinander verwendet werden. Die deutsche Sprachdatei für utorrent 1.6.1 Beta Build 478 und WebUI v.0.300 gibt es hier im Forum.

Microsoft hat den Release Candidate 1 von Windows Vista nun auch für Teilnehmer am Customer Preview Program (CPP) freigegeben. Gültige Keys für die Beta 2 des neuen Betriebssystems behalten für den Release Cadidate 1 weiterhin ihre Gültigkeit. Windows Vista kann somit problemlos aktiviert werden. 14 Tage lässt sich der Release Candidate, ähnlich wie schon der Pre-RC1, auch ohne Lizenzschlüssel uneingeschränkt einsetzen, der Schlüssel läßt sich nachträglich eintragen.

Desweiteren liess Microsoft verlauten, dass in Kürze wieder Registrierungen für das CPP möglich sein werden. Somit können sich weitere Interessenten für das Betaprogramm anmelden und Windows Vista RC1 herunterladen und testen.

Von µTorrent 1.6 steht der Release Candidate 1 zum Download bereit. uTorrent unterstützt mehrere gleichzeitige Downloads (Multiple simultaneous downloads) und die schnelle Aufnahme abgebrochener Downloads (Quick-resumes for interrupted transfers), zeitgesteuerte konfigurierbare Bandbreitennutzung (Configurable bandwidth scheduler), globale oder individuelle Limitierung der Geschwindigkeit per Torrent (Global and per-torrent speed limiting) sowie die von Azureus und Bittorrent bekannte Unterstützung trackerloser Torrents DHT (Trackerless support Mainline DHT). Per RSS Feed Downloader (RSS Downloader) lassen sich downloads automatisieren.

Der offizielle BitTorrent Client von Bram Cohen ist als Beta in Version 4.9.9 erschienen. Die Versionsnummer der aktuellen Beta lässt hoffen, dass der P2P Filesharingclient BitTorrent 5 schon bald erscheint. Eine aktuelle Zusammenfassung aller Änderungen der Beta findet sich in den Version Notes.

LimeWire ist ein auf Java basierender Peer-To-Peer Filesharing Client der somit auf zahlreichen Betriebssystemen läuft. Die Basic-Version des Clients ist kostenlos verfügbar, allerdings bringt der Installer Adware mit, so dass nach der Installation eine Überprüfung des Betriebssystems mit einem Ad- und Spyware-Killers ratsam ist.

Die PRO-Version kostet einmalig 18,88 US-Dollar. Dafür verspricht der Hersteller bessere Suchergebnisse und schnellere Downloads, persönlichen E-Mail-Support sowie eine komplett werbefreie Software.

Alternativ zu LimeWire empfehlen wir FrostWire, den inoffiziellen Nachfolger von LimeWire. Im Gegensatz zu LimeWire filtert Frostwire nicht die Suchergebnisse, installiert keine Werbemodule und ist kostenlos.

Wie der Branchendienst Heise.de berichtet, sind laut Microsoftnahen Quellen erste Details zur für Sommer 2005 geplanten Version 7 des Microsoft Internet Explorer bekannt geworden. Der neue IE mit dem Codenamen “Rincon” soll unter anderem Tabbed Browsing unterstützen.

Wie die aktuellen Versionen der Browser Mozilla Firefox und Opera, soll IE 7 auch internationalisierte Domain-Namen (IDN) interpretieren und wird mit einer sehr guten Unterstützung des Grafikformats PNG ausgestattet sein. Ebenso sind ein integrierter RSS-Reader und eine vereinfachte Druckfunktion geplant.

CSS 2 wird IE 7 aber weiterhin nicht vollständig unterstützen. Das Hauptaugenmerk der Entwickler liegt bei der neuen Version auf verbesserter Sicherheit des Browsers und weniger auf neuen Funktionen.

Die neueste Beta 1.89 des beliebten DivX/XviD Konvertierungstools AutoGK telefoniert via SpyWare nach Hause.

In der neuesten Beta-Version von AutoGK (Auto Gordian Knot) 1.89, einem Tool zur Konvertierung von Videomaterial, in der Hauptsache DVD-MPEG2, ist offensichtlich ein Spyware-Modul der Firma Responsetarget integriert, welches Daten an den Internetvermarkter sendet.

Die Bibliothek DAE.dll klinkt sich in den Internet Explorer ein, analysiert Suchanfragen und eingegebene URIs nach Schlüsselwörtern und sendet diese an dae.responsetarget.com. Diese unerwünschte Funktion von AutoGK lässt sich nicht über Systemsteuerung > Software deinstallieren.

Bisher ist ungeklärt, ob die Spyware direkt von AutoGK oder durch eines der Programme fremder Entwickler, die AutoGK mitinstalliert, um alle Funktionen nutzen zu k?nnen, auf das System gelangt.

Update:

Auch aktuelle Betas von AutoGK wie Version 1.91 bringen Adware mit. AntiVir meldet den Schädling als “DAE.EXE - Trojanisches Pferd TR/Dldr.Agent.fy”.

Die von Entwickler Bram Cohen noch als 3.9.1 beta gekennzeichnete Version des Original-Bittorrentclients für Windows und Linux ist laut der Webseite BetaNews eine Beta der Version 4.0 des Clients. Die Beta lässt sich von BitTorrent.com herunterladen und installieren.
